We started out at Alsvåg, saturday 8pm and the first destination was Nyksund. This is a small fishing village that used to be an important village. During the season lots of boats went there to deliver their catch. But around 1970 the technology had caused the industry to move to larger places like Myre and everyone had left Nyksund. In late 80′s and early 90′s a group of german students went there and fell in love with this place. They started up and opened cafe’s, restaurants and acomodations. Now this small place is growing a little. There are a couple of restaurants and it’s a great place for tourists and people like me – photographers. The scenery is awesome and I’ll go back in the near future.

After Nyksund we stopped at a place called Kattfloget. Here we took a few longexposureimages down by the water.

Our next stop was Myre. This is a rather large fishing village now. During the winterseason thousands of tons of cod are delivered and processed here. We met one of the local fishermen at 1am right before he went out with his boat. We only stayed there for a short while, but I managed to take a few photos of the piers and boats there.

From Myre, we drove a short while to another fishing village called Stø. It’s a bit more modern than Nyksund but still a charming place. The sea was dead calm and the last rays of sunshine could be seen in the horizon. We walked along the piers and took a few photos here too.

We knew excactly were we wanted to be when the sun rose again, but managed to stop for a short while just outside a placed called Klo. We just had to because we saw the beginning of the daylight and the colors were fantastic.

The last stop on the trip was Langenes. We wanted to get a few shots of the old church there. When it was built, no one knows for sure, but they think it was built around year 1500 or so. I personally think it’s a great construction and I took a few shots from different angles.

And then we waited for the sunrise. At 3:32am the sun rose again in the horizon and we got of a lot of shots of the rising sun. our trip was now complete and after leaving Langenes and Kjækholmen we returned to Alsvåg at around 5am. If you ever get the chance, this is a route you should take. Either as a tourist or as a tourist and photographer. The nature is magnificent and you’ll see a lot of interesting places and meet a lot of interesting people (we didn’t meet a lot of them, because they were probably asleep).

I’ve only taken a few shots so far and here are some examples of what I’ve achieved. I’m really looking forward to playing around with these filters.
